January Transfer

Limited time to make a decision

If you are in an eligible TRS Plan 2 position you may transfer to TRS Plan 3 during the month of January, provided you earn service credit during the January in which you transfer and turn in your Member Information Form by January 31.

Irrevocable decision

The decision to transfer to TRS Plan 3 is irrevocable— once a decision is made to transfer to TRS Plan 3, you cannot return to TRS Plan 2.

Who contributes to the defined contribution component of TRS Plan 3?

If you transfer to TRS Plan 3, your defined contribution account will be funded by your TRS Plan 2 account at the date of transfer, the employee contribution rate you select, earnings and gain sharing if you qualify.
