Assisting public employees plan for their retirement has always been the goal of ICMA-RC, but as a sponsor of the California Police and Fire Games ICMA-RC recently helped firefighters and police officers reach for a different type of goal — gold medals.

ICMA-RC served as a proud sponsor of the police and fire games held June 6–12 in Stockton, CA. where police officers and firefighters competed in a variety of sporting events hosted by the Stockton Police Officers Association, Stockton Firefighters Local 456 and the City of Stockton. The games are held to promote physical fitness and sportsmanship.

“Sponsoring the California Police & Fire Games is one way ICMA-RC demonstrates our continuing support of our police and firefighters,” said Michele Martin, Territory Vice President based in San Jose, CA. “We are proud to support these heroes who put their lives on the line every day serving us,” she said.

This year’s games, which attracted more than 5,200 participants, also included athletes from Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Hawaii and Washington who competed in a variety of sports ranging from boxing to darts and from a police service dog competition to an ultimate firefighter competition.
