IRS to Hold Roundtable on Governmental Plans Compliance Issues

The Internal Revenue Service's Office of Employee Plans is hosting a Governmental Plans Roundtable to discuss and raise awareness in the government plan sector of the need to comply with tax qualification requirements.
The roundtable will key in on the following topics:
- Why tax compliance is critical for plans maintained by governmental entities
- How IRS's Voluntary Compliance Programs can help find, fix, and avoid plan errors
- Enforcement efforts and methods to evaluate the level of compliance in governmental plans
- Technical and compliance issues of special interest to governmental plans
- Development of new tools and programs to assist governmental plans in achieving compliance
The program will be held April 22, 2008 from 9 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Washington, DC. Space is limited and must be reserved by March 28, 2008, by e-mailing retirementplanmeetings@irs.gov.
