Robert Schultze
President and CEO, MissionSquare Retirement

Robert SchultzeBob Schultze is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the ICMA Retirement Corporation (MissionSquare Retirement). He has served as President and CEO since February 2015. Mr. Schultze leads an organization of about 850 associates committed to helping public sector employees build retirement security. MissionSquare Retirement manages and administers more than $50 billion in assets and provides retirement plans and related services for over one million public sector participant accounts and over 9,000 retirement plans.

With over 30 years' experience serving the public sector, Mr. Schultze is a well-established leader and authority on pension administration. Prior to his arrival at MissionSquare Retirement, Mr. Schultze was director of the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) for 10 years. VRS operates retirement and insurance programs for 600,000 state and local government employees, retirees and beneficiaries and for 1,000 state and local agencies in Virginia. Additionally, Bob served on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC), a body that advises the GASB Board on governmental accounting rules. He also served on the Executive Board of the National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA). From 1994 to 2005, Mr. Schultze served as Executive Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Taxation. Earlier, he was Staff Director to the Virginia House Appropriations Committee, Director of the Virginia Education Loan Authority, and Deputy Chief of Staff to Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder.

Mr. Schultze holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and a master's degree in business administration from SUNY Buffalo.

 

Robert Johnson, CFA
Director of Economic Analysis, Morningstar, Inc.

Robert JohnsonRobert Johnson, CFA is director of economic analysis for Morningstar. In this role, he meets regularly with Morningstar's sector teams to gather up-to-the minute economic data from more than 100 Morningstar equity and credit analysts globally. He disseminates this information to other sector teams and to Morningstar subscribers via weekly columns and videos on Morningstar.com. In addition, Johnson provides general economic data to individual analysts to help them formulate their opinions on debt and equity securities.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2008, Johnson was an associate director of equity analysis for Morningstar's technology team for more than four years.

Johnson has more than 30 years of investment industry experience, including both buy-side and sell-side assignments as a research analyst covering technology stocks. His work experience includes stints at Stein Roe & Farnham, UBS-PaineWebber, and ABN AMRO.

Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and business administration from Carroll College and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University. Johnson also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of CFA Society of Chicago.

 

Andrew J. Euretig
Managing Director, Artisan Partners

Andrew J. EuretigAndrew J. Euretig is a managing director of Artisan Partners and a portfolio manager on the Global Equity team. In this role, he is a portfolio manager for the Artisan Global Equity Strategy and an associate portfolio manager for the Artisan Non-U.S. Growth Strategy. He also conducts research, primarily focusing on companies within the industrials and utilities sectors. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in June 2005, Mr. Euretig was a graduate student at the University of California at Berkeley. He previously served in the United States Navy as an amphibious operations officer. Mr. Euretig holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California- Berkeley.

 

Staley Cates
President, Southeastern Asset Management, Inc.

Staley CatesStaley Cates is the President of Southeastern Asset Management, Inc., an independent global investment management firm. Southeastern manages over $19 billion as the investment advisor to the Longleaf Partners family of mutual and UCITS funds and to separately managed institutional accounts. Mr. Cates joined Southeastern in 1986. Morningstar named him and Co-Portfolio Manager, Mason Hawkins, Domestic Equity Fund Manager of the Year in 2006, for which they were also nominated in 2003 and 2009. In 1998 Money magazine called Longleaf "The Best Mutual Fund Family in America."

Cates attended the University of Texas and holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is Co-Founder of New Hope Christian Academy and was a founding board member of Soulsville, Memphis Athletic Ministries, and the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation. He serves as Chairman of the Poplar Foundation, which supports various educational initiatives in Memphis. He was the Governor's appointee to the Transition Planning Commission in 2011-2012 for the consolidation of Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools.

 

Dana Morton Emery
Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director of Fixed Income, Dodge & Cox

Dana MortonDana Emery is Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director of Fixed Income at Dodge & Cox. She joined the firm in 1983, and is a member of the Fixed Income and Global Bond Investment Policy Committees, Business Strategy Committee and the Board of Directors. Dana is a shareholder of Dodge & Cox and a Trustee of the Dodge & Cox Funds.

Dana holds a B.A. from Stanford University. She is a CFA charter holder and a Chartered Investment Counselor. Dana is a member of the Advisory Board of the Fixed Income Forum, Founding Co-Chair of The Credit Roundtable, and the former Chairman of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee. She is a member of the National Board of Directors of Summer Search. Dana and her husband, Bob Emery live in San Francisco and have three sons, ages 24 to 19.

Established in 1930, Dodge & Cox is an independent investment management company with $276 billion in assets under management, of which $113 billion are invested in fixed income, as of December 31, 2016. Ownership is limited to active employees of the firm.

Dodge & Cox manages investments from one office located in San Francisco, California. Dodge & Cox also has a subsidiary office in London, Dodge & Cox Worldwide Investments Ltd., to service non-U.S. institutional investors.

 

Michael C. Buchanan
Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Western Asset Management Company

Michael C. BuchananMichael C. Buchanan, Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Western Asset, joined the Firm in 2005. He previously served as Managing Director and Head of US Credit Products at Credit Suisse Asset Management and as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Janus Capital Management. He also worked at BlackRock Financial Management as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager and at Conseco Capital Management as Vice President and Portfolio Manager.

Mr. Buchanan is significantly involved in nonprofit work, with a specific focus on education and childhood development. He is the former Board Chair and Board Member of Foothill Family Service; current Board Chair and Board Member for Mayfield Junior School; member of the Brown University Class of 1990 25th Reunion Annual Fund Gift Campaign, and Former Vice Chair and Board Member for Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School.

Mr. Buchanan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and gradu¬ated with Honors from Brown University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

 

Steve Mayer
Co-Head of Global Private Equity and Senior Managing Director of Cerberus Capital Management and Cerberus California, LLC

Steve MayerSteven F. Mayer is Senior Managing Director, Co-Head of Global Private Equity, and chairman of the Investment Committee of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. Cerberus, a private investment firm with approximately $34 billion of capital under management, acquires controlling and substantial minority investments in companies that exhibit the potential for business improvement or are otherwise not considered core by their current owners. As the co-head of Cerberus' global Private Equity group and chairman of its Investment Committee, Mr. Mayer oversees investments in a wide variety of industries, primarily in the United States and Europe. Following the acquisitions, Mr. Mayer is heavily involved in the formulation, implementation, and ongoing direction of the companies' strategies and operational initiatives.

Prior to joining Cerberus, Mr. Mayer held positions as an executive managing director of Gores Technology Group, managing director of Libra Capital Partners, L.P., managing director of Aries Capital Group, LLC, and principal with Apollo Advisors, L.P.

Mr. Mayer is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Avon Products, Inc. and New Avon LLC, BlueLinx Holdings Inc., Grifols S.A., Staples Solutions B.V., Starrus Holdings Limited, and YP Holdings LLC. In addition, Mr. Mayer has previously served as the chairman or a member of numerous other boards of directors and creditors' committees.

Mr. Mayer received his A.B., cum laude, from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

 

Justin Guichard
Managing Director, Oaktree Real Estate Group

Justin GuichardMr. Guichard is a managing director in Oaktree's Real Estate group, which he joined as an investment professional in 2007. He focuses on real estate debt and opportunistic equity investments across all property types, and co-leads the Structured Finance team. Mr. Guichard has extensive experience in real estate-related fixed income investments (particularly commercial mortgage-backed securities and syndicated loans), equity joint ventures, new loan originations and workouts. Prior to Oaktree, he worked for Barrow Street Capital, Supportsoft, Inc., and in Merrill Lynch & Co.'s Real Estate Investment Banking group. Mr. Guichard received a B.A. degree from University of California, Los Angeles, where he was an Alumni Scholar, and an M.B.A. from MIT's Sloan School of Management.

 

Wayne Wicker, CFA
Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, MissionSquare Retirement

Wayne WickerWayne Wicker is the Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. In this capacity, he oversees assets under management and administration that exceed $50 billion as of December 31, 2016. He is responsible for the investment management, due diligence, and contract negotiations of the more than 30 investment funds MissionSquare Retirement offers including the VT III Vantagepoint Funds, with assets over $16.9 billion, and the VT PLUS Fund, with assets of $10.9 billion as of December 31, 2016.

Mr. Wicker has more than 33 years of investment industry experience with equities, fixed income, and alternative investment portfolios. He has successfully managed institutional separate accounts and mutual fund products, and he has also built investment platforms through the use of external money managers. Additionally, he has had extensive client relations and client communications experience.

Before coming to MissionSquare Retirement in September 2004, Mr. Wicker served as Chief Investment Officer with The Colony Group in Boston, MA. Previously, he was employed as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager with Cadence Capital Management, an institutional money manager in Boston. As a partner with Cadence Capital, he managed a $2.1 billion large cap growth equity fund and also served as a senior spokesperson for the firm, initiating and maintaining a number of key relationships across the consultant and plan sponsor communities.

Prior to that, Mr. Wicker served as the Director of Investment Strategy with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Bethesda, MD, where he was responsible for asset allocation and the development, implementation, and management of investment activities for the Institute’s $12 billion endowment. He also initiated and implemented complementary strategies within the domestic equity, foreign equity, fixed income, and alternative asset categories. Mr. Wicker has also been employed with Dayton Hudson Corporation and with IDS Financial Services, both in Minneapolis, MN.

He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Washington.

He holds two undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Communications and Journalism as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
