ICMA-RC Supports Additional Congressional Relief for Local and State Governments

July 22, 2020

Angela MontezCongress reconvened on July 20, 2020. It is expected that consideration will be given to a fourth legislative package to address the impacts of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

ICMA-RC supports efforts aimed at providing additional flexibility to funding provided for local and state governments under the Coronavirus Relief Fund (Section 5001 of the CARES Act) and additional direct, fully flexible aid for local and state governments without regard to population size or COVID-19 case numbers. This flexibility will provide much needed relief to help avoid cutbacks and furloughs, support the safe reopening of schools and maintain service levels in your communities.

As part of our mission to serve you, ICMA-RC is working to further this legislation and will be providing tools and letters to enable plan sponsors and participants to voice support to Congress.

ICMA-RC is proud to serve you. On behalf of all of our teammates, we thank you for continuing to provide essential services to your communities through these unprecedented times.

Angela Montez
Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer ICMA-RC
