2020 Award Recipients

Gracie Abalos-McManus

Gracie Abalos-McManus, of North Carolina, is planning to attend the University of Pembroke where she hopes to earn a nursing degree. Her goal is to become a nurse in the Navy. Gracie’s father, Jason Abalos, died in the line of duty while serving the City of Jacksonville Fire Department.

Tiffany S. Bartholemew

Tiffany S. Bartholemew, of Florida, is currently a sophomore at Pensacola State College and is pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism.  Tiffany’s father, Marvin M. Bartholemew, died in the line of duty while serving the Escambia County Fire Rescue.

Renise Bayne, is currently enrolled at Wayland Baptist University and is working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. Renise’s husband, Bryant Bayne, died in the line of duty while serving the Honolulu Police Department.

Erin Billa-Bolton, of Alabama, is working towards earning a bachelor’s degree as a full-time student at the University of South Alabama. Erin’s husband, Justin Billa, died in the line of duty while serving the Mobile Police Department.

Jack O. Bellew

Jack O. Bellew, of New York, is currently a sophomore in the pursuit of his desired career choice, engineering. Jack chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and attend Manhattan College, where they have a great reputation in producing top-notch engineers and provide strong mentorship through their alumni. Jack’s father, John Bellew, died in the line of duty while serving the Fire Department of New York.

Katreana F. Bellew

Katreana F. Bellew, of New York, enjoys writing and would like to study screenwriting at New York University. She is applying to very specific programs within the film field and is determined to get into a prestigious school that will help her achieve her dreams. Katreana’s father, John Bellew, died in the line of duty while serving the Fire Department of New York.

Brielle M. Bellew

Brielle M. Bellew, of New York, is entering her senior year at Penn. State University.  Her goal is to become a physician’s assistant upon graduation. Brielle’s father, John Bellew, died in the line of duty while serving the Fire Department of New York.

Erika Brentar, is enrolled at DePaul University and her goal is to become a User Experience Designer in the airline industry. She is interested in earning a master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction to help her reach her goal.  Erika’s father, George Brentar, died in the line of duty while serving the Euclid Police Department.

Ally N. Butler

Ally N. Butler, of Indiana, is currently enrolled in Ball State University and is working to obtain a degree in Hospitality and Food Management. She feels this will position her for a career in helping others through work in the tourism industry. Ally’s father, John Butler, died in the line of duty while serving the Lafayette Fire Department.

Brock N. Butler

Brock N. Butler, of Indiana, is currently enrolled at Purdue University and is pursuing a degree in Sales Management. Entering his Senior year, Brock plans to finish strong academically while remaining engaged as a member of the Purdue University Women’s Basketball Scout Team. Brock’s father, John Butler, died in the line of duty while serving the Lafayette Fire Department.

Colleen Byrne

Colleen Byrne, of Missouri, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She would like to start her own interior design company, as well as create a non-profit for firefighters.  Colleen’s father, Thomas Byrne, died in the line of duty while serving the Kansas City Fire Department.

Brycen Common, of Oregon, is entering his second year at Southwestern Oregon Community College.  His ultimate goal is to pursue a career in youth ministry. Brycen’s father, Jeffery Common, died in the line of duty while serving the Coos Bay Towboat Company. 

Taylor Common, of Oregon, would like to get a bachelor’s degree in business and build a full-time photography business.  Taylor’s father, Jeffery Common, died in the line of duty while serving the Coos Bay Towboat Company. 

Aliza DeVoe

Aliza DeVoe, of Pennsylvania, will attend Millersville University and plans to pursue a degree in social work. Her dream is to own a private practice where she helps kids overcome challenges.  Aliza’s father, Dennis DeVoe, died in the line of duty while serving the City of Harrisburg Bureau of Fire.  

Savannah N. Flanscha

Savannah N. Flanscha, of Pennsylvania, is enrolled at Drexel University where she currently is studying nursing. Her goal is to ultimately become a Nurse Practitioner. Savannah’s father, Ivan Flanscha, died in the line of duty while serving the York City Fire Department.

Jocelyn Fontanez-Rivera, of Puerto Rico, is a first-year student at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, majoring in kinesiology. Jocelyn’s father, Jose Fontanez-Correa, died in the line of duty while serving the Puerto Rico Police Department.

Bailey R. Fritz

Bailey R. Fritz, of Ohio, plans to attend Thiel College in Greenville, PA and major in political science. Her goal is to become a foreign services officer with the State Department.  Bailey’s father, John Fritz, died in the line of duty while serving the Austintown Township Fire Department.

Sara R. Hain

Sara R. Hain, of Minnesota, is in her final year of a rigorous five-year accelerated business and technology program where she maintains a 3.65 GPA. She embodies the traits of gifted intelligence, a superior work ethic, a drive for competitive excellence and above all is dedicated to helping others.  Sara’s father, Ramon Hain, died in the line of duty while serving the St. Paul Fire Department.

Lauren Haist, of Georgia, is in the final stretch to graduating from the University of North Georgia and is excited to earn her graphic design degree.  Upon graduation, she has obtained an internship with Atlanta magazine.  Lauren’s father, Charles Haist, died in the line of duty while serving the Henry County Police Department.

Cassidy Holcomb, is entering her junior year at Jacksonville State University.  She has a passion for criminal justice and has a goal of graduating with a major in forensic investigation, as well as a minor in biology. Cassidy’s father, Dexter Holcomb, died in the line of duty while serving the Oxford Police Department

Cydni Holloway

Cydni Holloway, of Louisiana, is currently a student at Emory University. Hergoal is to attend law school, become a corporate lawyer, and eventually build a political career. Cydni’s father, Daryle Holloway, died in the line of duty while serving the New Orleans Police Department.

Kaila Holloway

Kaila Holloway, of Louisiana, attends the LSU Health Sciences Center. She is driven to obtain a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences.  Her goal is to get a job studying health disparity issues among minority groups to determine why they are predisposed to certain diseases. Kaila’s father, Daryle Holloway died in the line of duty while serving the New Orleans Police Department.

Larissa Jones

Larissa Jones, of Illinois, will attend Illinois Central College and will pursue a degree in Psychology.  She is interested in becoming a mental occupational therapist.  Larissa’s father, Joshua Jones, died in the line of duty while serving the City of East Peoria.

Rebekah Jones-Broadbent

Rebekah Jones-Broadbent, is entering her second semester at St. Leo University. She believes that with a degree in Human Services, she will be able to pursue her dream of becoming a social worker. Rebekah’s husband, Brian Jones, died in the line of duty while serving the Norfolk Police Department

Emma R. Loveland

Emma R. Loveland, of Pennsylvania, was accepted to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Culinary Arts Program. Her ultimate goal is to become a head chef or be in management in the hotel or restaurant industry.  Emma’s stepfather, Dennis DeVoe, died in the line of duty while serving the City of Harrisburg Bureau of Fire.

Jacob Martinez

Jacob Martinez, of Texas, is a current student at Sam Houston State University and is completing a Criminal Justice/Criminology degree. Because of his academic standing, he has been inducted into the Honors College. Jacob’s father, Alejandro Martinez, died in the line of duty while serving the Willacy County Sheriff's Office.

Alyssa J. Rice

Catherine N. Nappi, of New York, is a senior at Fordham University and is pursuing a degree in biological science.  After finishing her undergraduate degree, Catherine plans to attend either medical school or physician’s assistant school to help others. Catherine’s father, Richard Nappi, died in the line of duty while serving the Fire Department of New York.

Nicholas N. Nappi

Nicholas N. Nappi, of New York, is currently attending the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. He later hopes to obtain a job in the Sports Management field. Nicholas’ father, Richard Nappi, died in the line of duty while serving the Fire Department of New York.

Danielle Nichols, of Iowa, is pursuing a master’s degree in organization leadership from Buena Vista University.  She wants to find a career that enables her to help others. Danielle’s father, Daniel Nichols, died in the line of duty while serving the Des Moines Fire Department in Iowa.

Jared Nichols

Jared Nichols, of Iowa is entering his junior year at Iowa State University, where he is majoring in accounting. Jared’s father, Daniel Nichols, died in the line of duty while serving the Des Moines Fire Department in Iowa.

Keara G. Page

Keara G. Page, of Massachusetts, has chosen to pursue her degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at Union College. She hopes to help find solutions to mental illness and autism. Keara’s father, Kelly Page, died in the line of duty while serving the Lowell Fire Department.

Tyler S. Rogow

Tyler S. Rogow, of New Jersey, is currently a senior at Savannah College of Arts & Design. His desire to influence society in a positive way while incorporating his passion of art has led him to obtain a degree in Social Strategy and Management with a minor in Art Direction. Tyler’s father, Scott Rogow, died in the line of duty while serving the City of Paterson Fire Department.

Trina Scott, has completed the curriculum to become a Health Coach and is currently enrolled at the Health Coach Institute to obtain a degree to become a Life Coach. She hopes to have the opportunity to work as a counselor/life coach with the C.O.P.S. Hands on Programs. Trina’s husband, David Scott, died in the line of duty while serving the Clarksville Police Department.

Kevin E. Townes

Kevin E. Townes, of New York, is currently enrolled in SUNY Orange Community College and plans to attend Hartwick in the fall.  Kevin’s father, Kevin Townes, Sr., died in the line of duty while serving the City of Mount Vernon Fire Department in New York.

Rebecca E. Townes

Rebecca E. Townes, of New York, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism from The College of Saint Rose.  A gifted athlete, Rebecca has dreamed of becoming a sports broadcaster. She has been consistently involved in sports since the age of 2, and now in college, she is on the women’s basketball team. Rebecca’s father, Kevin Townes, Sr., died in the line of duty while serving the City of Mount Vernon Fire Department in New York.

Savannah Uhl, is enrolled at the University of Arizona where she is working towards a degree in nursing. Savannah’s father, Matthew Uhl died int the line of duty while serving his community.

Stephanie Vidal-Echevarria, of Puerto Rico, has aspirations of becoming a military psychologist. She currently holds a 3.75 GPA in her psychology program at the Ana G. Mendez University in
Puerto Rico. Stephanie’s father, Nikolai Vidal-Perez, died in the line of duty while serving Cataño Municipal Police Department.
